Where are you based & what is your day job?
Yateley, Hampshire (think im the southern most member!)
I’m a Landscape Gardner/Designer.
How did you become involved in WRS?
Through Twitter and a general interest in horse racing.
Which horse(s) do you co-own?
Woolfall Sovereign or NuNu as he’s also known.
Why did you choose this horse(s) to be involved with?
Almost by accident! Originally Henry Bee was the horse that took me to WRS but when Andy mentioned he was getting hold of Woolfall, I looked at his record and knew it was too good to turn down.
Best racecourse moment so far with Woolfall Sovereign?
Lingfield – a few weeks ago. After such a difficult summer with him needing a break it was just good to see him race again, but when he won it was just an amazing moment. The smiles on faces were huge. I was just as happy for Katie* as I was for myself.
(*Katie Margarson – NuNu’s devoted groom & rider)
How long have you been part of Team WRS?
It got to be about 10 months now.
What do your friends think of you owning a racehorse?
I don’t think they really understand how it all works but now NuNu has started winning they are getting more interested.
Favourite jockey & why? (I’m guessing Ian Mongan!?)
Who else!!?? Not only has he ridden NuNu to 2 wins recently but after each race he always takes the time to talk you through how it went etc.
Prefer flat or jumps?
Flat every time!
How often do you go to visit your horse(s) at the yard?
Not been yet, and I will do it for sure. However, I’ve been to every race but one since I’ve been involved.
Apart from your own horse, which other racehorse would you love to own & why?
My favourite all time horse is Cape Blanco and although he’s now retired I wish I had been able to be involved with him!
Any advice for would-be owners?
If you love horse racing and want to be involved this is the place to be. Andy keeps in regular contact and the whole syndicate has a family feel to it! It does everything it says….and has made me a winning owner – twice!
